In 2006, Jason left the group and Gokhan Telci joined the band, after an exhaustive audition process facilitated by our craigslist posting. After about 30 auditionees, G, rose to the top and we are proud to say he is our new bassist. We were blessed with some fantastic bassists who were interested in joining, and had even constructed an elaborate scoring methodology for auditionees and held off on making a decision until G could unpack his moving van and get his bass. He was the last audition and we unanimously hired him on the spot and threw out our stupid score sheets.G's full name is Gokhan Telci and he is a native of Turkey. Growing up in Istanbul, he started playing keyboards and piano around middle school. In college he majored in Music Education and studied viola and piano. He fell in love with the electric bass while playing keyboards for a reggae band. When the bass player left his group G took the opportunity to fill in and never looked back. After three years of reggae, he met this beautiful, smart American exchange student, who was the one who actually found the BCB craigslist ad and hooked us up. After graduation, he chased her back to the U.S. and forced her to marry him! That was nine years ago. Since then he has played with various bands and recently relocated from the Boston area to the SF Bay Area. After two countries and three states of adventure in music, here he is in California as our new bassist. Gokhan's influences are Bob Marley, Oteil Burbridge and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Robben Ford, and Marcus Miller. G's playing is reminiscent of Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which is not a comparison to be made lightly.
